*October 4th 2006 DORKBOT: Microcontrollers for Artists*
Greetings, Dorks! If you've ever wanted to add more complexity to a project
but wanted minimal impact on the visual design then this dorkbot is for you.
On WEDNESDAY, October 4th at 7:30 PM at CoCA ( http://www.cocaseattle.org ),
we will have four of our Seattle dorkbot regulars speaking about 5 different
microcontrollers. *Larry Barello* will talk about *Atmel* controllers, *Bill
Beatty* will talk about *PICs*, *Doug Bell* will show us the Cypress *PSOC*,
Bill and Doug will both show us aspects of the *Basic Stamp*, and *Eric
McNeill* will cover *Rabbit* chips. We'll see the different development
environments that our presenters use, learn some of the strengths and
weaknesses of the different MCU families, get an idea of how to get started
with each of the controllers, and see some example applications.
After the presentations, and open dork, we'll clear out the chairs and then
the presenters will have their environments set up at various tables so we
can get a closer look and talk one-on-one with them.
Doors will be open at 7:00 if you want to show up early, have a drink at
COCA's bar, and chat with your fellow dorks.
More details below; http://dorkbot.org/dorkbotsea will be updated shortly.
Please send any questions or comments to Jo Brenner joeb at sounddsl.com who's
organizing this Dorkbot, or shellyhivemind at gmail.com, your Dork Overlord.
