If you are looking for a thickness planer, it will be hard to locate. a 
36 inch wide machine is huge. However, a big sander belt or drun is much 
easier to find. A few passes throgh a sander might do the job.

the other choice is to rip it into boards that will fit, plane them and 
glue back into the original order If I did it this way, I would use 
plate joints to make the alignment easier.
