The mailman list software (which runs this list) has a misguided 
suggestion to make list replies go to the sender instead of the list.

I call it misguided because generally the nature of mailng lists is to 
collaborate. Encouraging collaborative replies to be made off-list loses 
the immediate value of a reply that all list members can see and comment 
on, and the long term value of the full discussion being in the list 
archives which are generally indexed by search engines like Google.

I would encourage the list maintaner to change that setting in the list 
configuration web page.
