Ditto on the Digital Weller from Fry's. Worth EVERY penny. Completely
different ball game when you are working with a tool like that. I wish I
had left the RadioShack special a long long time ago. I'm now able to
easily solder smt, QFP, TQFP packages (use liquid flux) where I couldn't
solder anything remotely that small before. The presets and ability to
change temperature in seconds (yeah, it gets to 800 in oh about 10 seconds)
has made it much easier to work on a variety of sizes parts without stopping
and to jump in and do a little soldering whenever I want rather than having
to make an ordeal of getting everything set up. DO IT. You won't regret
it.
