Here's a 9.6V NiMH:

I've bought from them before, but I haven't tried this battery. I use a
regular 9V charger for my 8.4V, no idea if you need a special charger for
this one (guess I could pull out the multimeter...)

Subject: [dorkbotsea-blabber] i should probably know this, but,..
I am stumped, does anyone know,.. is a 9v rechargeable really 9v or is it
really 7.2 volts (6, 1.2v cells packaged rather than 6, 1.5v cells packaged
together) or do they squeeze 8 cells (2 additional than a standard 9v
package) in there to make it 9.6v?,.. iv never cracked one open to find
out,.. and I am thinking of using them as a power source for something, but
I need to know before I order, do they trend closer to 7.2v or 9.6 volts at
peak,.. ?
Also along the same line,.. does anyone have a source for cheep 1/2-AAA
batteries,.. iv been hunting but the few places iv found them are always out
of stock,.. nothing at frys, nothing at radio shack, nothing at the usual
battery resellers on line,.. nothing on a google or amazon search,..
