[dorkbotsea-blabber] Proposal: Have a "Tweet-A-Watt" per entry in
"Strange Things"

Having just completed phase one of the Tweet-a-Temp
(http://www.instructables.com/id/Tweet-A-Temp/) which is a "failed"
attempt to make a Tweet-A-Watt (http://www.ladyada.net/make/tweetawatt/)
I thought about Strange things.
what I propose is that each entry have a Tweet-a-Watt which links to a
master receiver which then Tweets each entry's Wattage to a single
twitter account.
There are plenty of cool twists we could apply to this, if we go ahead.
Some thoughts are: interacting with Twittering queries; interacting with
the entries (especially if they are on Twitter); acting as a, or
integrating with a, master twitter account for the event; Adding
Tweet-A-Watts from non-entries (lighting usage, A/C, Solar Panel
offsets, receiver computer, etc.); or interacting with the audience
somehow.
The two things I like about this is that it is a "meta" level source of
information to the show, and offers a counterweight to the idea of using
electricity.
If we do want to go forward, I am willing to handle the purchasing
process, to donate my time soldering the equipment, and to loan a
computer for the master receiving (if we need it).
I would expect each entry that had a Tweet-A-Watt to purchase the parts
(unless we can find a sponsor) for each transmitter (expected cost per
transmitter+ Kill-A-Watt is about $60 +shp+tx, though bulk orders should
reduce that a bit).
We could also do a Tweet-A-Watt workshop at 911 to help defray costs
even more (this is a cool project for beginning/moderate soldering and
programming).
Thoughts?
