What are the logistics for this event? What time will it start/end? What is the procedure for buyers/sellers/traders (e.g. anyone needing to actually exchange cash/merchandise)? - h On Wed, Jun 18, 2008 at 10:01 AM, Kallahar wrote: > THIS saturday, June 21, the 23b group will be hosting a used computer gear > trade/sale/etc at our shop in Fullerton. Artists will include Usman Haque (http://www.haque.co.uk/) who did the 1000 helium balloons with radio controlled LEDs inside for the 2006 Signapore Biennale. Also there will be Shih Chieh Huang (http://www.messymix.com/) who will be creating a "Neptunian lair" along the pedestrian path under the Santa Monica Pier. Machine Project also says they will be presenting (http://machineproject.com/glow): "ROJECT: FERRIS WHEEL ORCHESTRA a 3-part musical composition/cycle for brass, winds and percussion to be performed from the baskets of the ferris wheel. The first part will be performed at dusk, the second at midnight, and the final part at dawn. PROJECT: POETRY AT SEA We are loading a boat with three poets and docking it at some distance offshore on the south side of the pier. On the beach, we'll lay out a beach blanket, and set up a telescope, signal lantern and a specially modified rotary-dial cell phone, also on the south side of the pier, with a clear view of the poetry boat. Visitors can then request personal poetry readings at a distance by picking up the lantern and flashing it towards the boat, one flash for English and two for Spanish. A spotlight will be switched on on the boat, illuminating a poet. The poet on the boat will stand facing towards the beach and dial the rotary cell phone, the person on the beach will answer, and the poet will recite his poem over the phone while being viewed through the telescope. PROJECT: PIRATE LULLABIES Centered around a large artificial bonfire / light sculpture installation on the south side of the pier, viewers are invited to listen/nap/moonbath on beach blankets while a rotating group of performers perform traditional sea shanties and their own maritime-themed songs throughout the night. PROJECT: GLASS HOUSE Artists Kamau Patton and Suzy Poling are bringing a live musical video projection performance that will be presented from inside a greenhouse on the beach using tape loops, theremins and improvised sound devices." -Thomas http://www.t11s.com
