Very nice effect. I like the polar 'modulation'.
Polar cable robots are really useful because they're quite accurate, but
require very little setup. You can just clamp them in the corners of a wall
and have them run.
If anyone's looking to make something like this, check out the eggbot board
(eibot), which was originally designed for robotically decorating easter
eggs.

It interfaces to inkscape plugins directly so you can plot directly from
your vector graphics design package.
