[dorkbottac-blabber] Can anyone here turn down the ends of an Acme 1/2 by 10 for me?

I'm a student at Bates Tech College in Tacoma and president of the Maker's Club there. Our first project is building a CNC mill.

Our tools are limited to those found in the average garage and that doesn't include a metal lathe nor mill. Is anyone here willing to turn down the ends of some oil steel Acme rod for us, and if so how much would you want for this?

This is what we were thinking of getting, if you have other ideas I'm open:
