Hi
We are having the first informal Dorkbot Vancouver meeting
DorkBot
Back Room, The Irish Heather
Tuesday, November 7th
7-10pm
This first meeting will be very casual. We'll have some drinks and
introduce ourselves and talk about what we might be working on. In
the future, meetings will involve short presentations on projects, to
facilitate discussion. Please forward this e-mail to anyone and
everyone you know who might be interested in attending and invite
them to subscribe to the Dorkbot
mailing list
I hope to see you there.
Cheers,
Alex

I Met Guenter Geiger in Barcelona in 2003. I think the "fudicial"
tracking system is included in Gem nowadays.
I will not be able to come to the dorkbot meeting tuesday, I got the
dates mixed up and I'll be teaching a pd/Gem workshop at VideoIn at that
time.
I hope you all have fun, I hope to make the next one!

Hello
We just wanted to say thank you again for coming to our first dorkbot
vancouver meeting.
I think we all enjoyed the time we had a the pub, it was great to see
some many interesting people with very different backgrounds getting
together.
We are already planing our next meeting, so get on the mailing list
if you want to find out about it (we're not going to send personal
emails after this one)
Feel free to pass this email around, the more we are the better this
will be.
Cheers
The Dorkbot Crew

Subject: looking for sessional/lecturer for my sfu 3d animation
class: help
Hey All, I'm looking for someone to teach SFU (@Surrey) SIAT's
innovative 'Intro to 3D Animation' course. It is a large lecture class
(~125-170 students) with separate hands on studio labs (24 each with
TAs). The lecture, labs, software and equipment is state of the art.
My 4th year course in Immersive Environments is growing into several
sections, so I do not think I can also teach my "Intro to 3D
Animation" course which is a large and very popular course. Because of
it's size, I was hoping to find someone who has taught 3D Animation
before (but I'm open) - most of the lecture material is good to go
(even online) and the person will get a lot of TA/IT support. We are
using Maya and Renderman in the studio lab, but the lecturers are more
about animation history, principles, techniques and research. Oh, the
class discusses technical issues but is a 'non-programming, little
math' class for technically oriented artists/designers where they
crash course in 3D animation and form teams to make a short 3D
productions, see http://www.sfu.ca/iat241 for details.
Help me. Do you know anyone, (at ecaid, bcit, ubc, pro schools,
industry) who wants to teach this for spring and is inspiring in front
of 150 2nd years students? Pass this email around. I can help and
mentor them, too.
Hope all is going well, Steve
