[jmsl] Play Selection...?

I've found playback in Finale et al. to be really lacking in terms of 
intuitiveness, ease-of-use etc.  I'd like to implement a "Play 
Selection" function in JMSL.   For instance, highlight notes in just 
the Bassoon part and play back just that highlighted section.  (rather 
than having to deal with the rigmarole of "muting" the other parts, or 
soloing that part and then when done un-soloing...)

Is this a question of dumping the selection into various MusicShapes, 
bound to the appropriate instruments, then handing them off to play, or 
is there a better way?
