Nick had an extra ticket so I was able to see this concert tonight at the Los Angeles Disney Concert Hall. (sold out performance!)

Played by the CalArts New Millennium Brass, consisting of 2 trumpets, horn, trombone, tuba, and drums, Nick Didkovsky's "Slim in Beaten Dreamers", a JMSL?generated piece of music, sounded fabulous in the spacious?abyss of the Disney Concert Hall.
The JMSL piece held it's own place in the concert up against human composers Mendelssohn, Grainger, Bernstein, and Corigliano. In fact, I bet that very few in the audience tonight, if they hadn't been told, would know that "Slim in Beaten Dreamers" was computer generated music. It would have passed a musical Turing Test if there ever was one. Although, the wacky computer generated anagram title might give it away.
