To help you debug Java issues with IE, you can enable the Java Console
which lets you get extended error messages, view threads, etc.

To enable the Java Console:
select "Internet Options" from the Tools or View menu,
go to the "Advanced Section",
check "Enable Java Console" in the Java VM section,
restart IE (not your computer.),
select "Java Console" from the View menu.
