Currently, the only way is from CVS:

cvs -d:pserver:anonymous at cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/mlt login 
(press return at login prompt)

cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous at cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/mlt co mlt
