" Shooting live Artists commissions" is a new commissioning schene that will
connect leading contemporary artists with new media distribution.
Shooting live arts is an initiative which connects audacious
contemporaryart with new media production and distribution bringing new
forms of creativity to wider audiences. Shooting Live Artists is a new
strategic initiative by The Arts Council of England, BBC, Yorkshire Media
Production Agency's Studio of the North and b.tv
Shooting live artists offers live artists, digital media artists
and media producers £5,000 and £10,000 commissions to explore the creative
possibilities of converging and diverging media platforms. Productions can
take a variety of forms such as; single screen work, work destined to be
displayed as an installation, distributed on an interactive platform, or
disseminated via networked media. The work should integrate elements of net
distribution and could exploit digital video and audio, symbiotic
relationships between the body and technology, intelligent environments,
mobile devices, web streaming, games cultures, emergent software, ambient or
viral marketing.
The resulting Shooting live artists commissions will be
premiered (completed or as work in progress) at this year's b.tv festival
b.tv 2001is at the National Centre for Popular Music in Sheffield on
November the 30th and December 1st. The online elements of the work will
feature exclusively on the BBC Arts website from December 2001. This will
include artists week to week action diaries and the potential for web users
to participate as the works progress.
