actually, i wasn't.  i hadn't payed that much attention and i thought that
drum machines came out about the time that E-mu (wasn't it called the
"Drumulator") and sampling technology started getting cheap enough for the
masses.  i just thought they all were sample playback boxes.

"duh", i guess.  then were there these programmable drum machines in the mid
70s?  what were the products?
