[Portaudio] Full Duplex vs dual half duplex?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if it really made a difference if I opened a device in
full duplex vs. opening a device twice once for capture and playback
respectively.  I'm still fighting with echo canceller issues, but I'm
not sure that opening the device in full duplex is really going to make
a difference from how I understand DirectSound works.

What are your thoughts?
