I ran that on Ubuntu 10.10 and checked in the resulting autogenerated 
files. The config.guess files now has a date in 2009. Better than 2003.

I did a test build on Mac OS X 10.6.6 and Ubuntu 10.10. This worked:

   ./configure && make
   bin/patest_sine

If everything is OK we may release tonight's snapshot as stable snapshot 
2 (SS2).
