Thanks Phil. I did spend a little time drilling down into the coreaudio code to see if it was anything obvious. It was not obvious to someone with my superficial knowledge of coreaudio. After all, that's part of the reason why we're using portaudio :-). Many thanks to you, Ross, Bjorn and others for the many hours it has saved us!
