In case you aren't aware, the "Humdrum Toolkit" provides several
scripts for converting between the note name notation (they call it
"**pitch", and refer to it as an ISO standard(?)) to other formats
(midi, Hz, octave.pc, solfège, etc.):

I found this because I too wanted to use pitch definitions like "C#4"
with RTcmix.
