All prospective applicants to our graduate programs in Musicology (PhD) or Composition (DMA) should be aware of the official GSAS policies concerning required exams to accompany any application.
Prospective applicants should be sure to read the GSAS Prospective Students [1] page and the Admissions Page [2], as well as the Department of Music Bulletin. [3]
IMPORTANT NOTES:
The GRE ("Graduate Record Exam") general test is required of ALL applicants to any of our graduate programs, as per Columbia GSAS rules. (We do not require the Music Subject Area test.)
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of all applicants who have received an undergraduate degree from an institution in a country whose official language is not English.
