Piano Concerto #1 is a work in two parts. The first part is a musical composition for solo piano and orchestra, twenty-five minutes in length. The second part is an essay that focuses on (1) the form, pitch/harmonic material and motivic development; and (2) some of the reasons for the use of traditional forms (passacaglia and variations, sonata, scherzo and trio, rondo) and how these forms influenced my compositional choices.
