PGT: Columbus Visitors Center Performance, Columbus, IN
(all mp3 files)
This was the culmination of the Grand Midwestern/Homecoming "tour"
for us. It started with me (brad) giving a lecture to
class at Indiana University the preceding Thursday (January 31),
wound through a performance/lecture/symposium by all of us
Cincinnati Conservatory of Music,
and my mom arranged this final
presentation for us in Columbus. It was great fun, with a
standing-room only crowd on Super Bowl Sunday no less! (We were
able to finish beforethe kick-off.)
My mom's (Barbara Garton)
is an interesting place. It was quite something to be able to look out the
window while playing and see the I. M. Pei Library with the
Henry Moore sculpture in front, across the street from one of the first
modern churches designed by Eliel Saarinen.
was a terrific venue to perform and talk about our music.
Many thanks to Lynn Lucas and the staff. For me it was particularly
fine because I grew up in Columbus, and I had a chance to reconnect
with friends I hadn't seen for years.
