We'll be online and burning from 10am-10pm on November 22nd. CU then!
Team TacoTruck:
We don't have a fancy filter for our laser, plus we don't like plastic much, so we have a no plastics policy. But there are still lots of fun things to cut!
OKAY! We're live blogging here and also here!

Team TacoTruck is in the house. The laxxxor is a bit grungy, so I'm going to give it a good clean before firing it up. Just bought two gallons of distilled water for the water cooling system. Need more hands to do the water swap, rest of TTT is still in bed dreaming in vectors, no doubt...
GOGOGO!

Hi-tech paper towel cutting by Team TacoTruck! The laxxxor is all cleaned up and ready to go. Rails cleaned and lubed, mirrors polished, aluminum honeycomb lightly dusted with alcohol in a half-hearted attempt to remove the soot. First project: a 3D polio virus!

Nathan brought in a design for a car. We made a quick vector version in Illustrator and cut it out of thick paper. We had to glue the wheels on. The next time we'll make slots instead of holes for the axles!
+++++++
Next Nathan wanted to make a mask with Phineas, his current favorite cartoon character. We found a picture online and traced it in AI, then cut it out of the same thick paper. Later Nathan took it home and colored it in. It turns out that Phineas is always drawn in profile, making him a somewhat difficult mask subject!

Cotton Fabric Paper seems to be infused with some sort of stinky chemical. We did a test cut and Tali sniffed it and it smelled horrible so we decided not to use it.

Dlisah sketched some amazing monsters. We scanned them in, vectorized them, and cut them on some cardboard. We also singed them into Dlisah's jacket!

Rather than write individual posts for the rest I'm just going to do one giant post with a ton of pics. Things got kinda crazy during the 2nd half of the Team TacoTruck lazzzorfest. Messy food, goofy designs, bad smells, good smells, Illustrator fights, potty breaks, disturbing popping sounds, science, fiction, mishaps, burn-through, mockery, giggling. It was amazing! We'll try to do this again soon.
XOXOXOXO Team TacoTruck!
Carrie drew a cute little birdie. We took a photo of it, brought it into AI, vectorized it, and cut it into a t-shirt and her phone. The phone looked great. The t-shirt looked super too, like very fine embroidery, but unfortunately it cut all the way through the fabric! So it kinda ruined the shirt. Heh, sorry about that.
Neg-Fi went a bit kooky with their logo. Ryan wouldn't let me give him a Laxxxoor Tattoo (tm), but we engraved their logo on pretty much everything else in the studio, including lots of tacos and a bagel!
About 1/3 of Team TacoTruck working on their retina tans.
Ron and Netta designed a shark mobile! Ron cut it from 3/16" ply and it was lovely.
Who laid a stinker??? THERE'S TOO MUCH HUMMUS IN THE STUDIO!
Ryan broke his finger in a "high fiving accident" right before playing a gig last week. Really.
OF COURSE we engraved a taco truck on a taco.
While the adults were doing important work, !Rama, Dlisah, and Michelle made a big mess in the other room. Wheee!
What a great day. Thanks to everyone who came and played with us. Let's do it again soon!
