What's Tim doing TODAY?
I am a doctoral candidate in composition at Columbia
University. I am also working
at BR Productions as an audio engineer and arranger with BR
Productions. Most
of my work there involves creating music for K-6 music textbooks.
Timothy Polashek married Roseann Hara, Esq. in New York City at the Church of
Notre Dame on May 19th, 2001. She is a civil attorney working near Wall Street.
Tim continues working on his DMA in composition at Columbia University and is
employed as an Audio Engineer with BR Productions. He taught a graduate level
class in Advanced Electronic Music at a CUNY (Lehman College) in fall, 2000. He
was a panelist at the 2000 conference of the Society of Electroacoustic Music
in the US, addressing the topic of spatialization theory and the nature of
collaboration between engineers and musicians. His installation "Tinkering
with Speech" debuted at the Lincoln Center summer festival, July 14th,
2000. Here is how the publicity describes it: "This installation allows
participants to record themselves speaking and to listen to computer generated
responses. Options include pitch transformation, fragmentation, syllabic
shuffling, vowel substitution, and even algorithms combining several words into
new ones, real or nonsensical. The produced sounds are not only interesting
timbral derivations and extensions of the original recorded voices, but
explorations in semantics, facilitated by compositional algorithms informed by
real-time phonological analyses and speech recognition software."
