The Music & Arts Library is currently presenting an exhibition curated by composer and improviser Lucie Vítková on graphic scores.
Graphic scores use visual means other than standard musical notation to guide performers. The exhibition features several of Vítková's works, as well as selected graphic scores from the Library's collections. Videos of performances are also presented, with headphones available to listen, from both the interior and exterior of the library.
A live performance by Vítková, and a reception to mark the exhibition, will be held in the Library (701 Dodge) on Friday, April 27, 6:00-8:00pm, and is open to all Columbia affiliates.
The full artist's statement and bio for the exhibition are available at: https://goo.gl/RxstTW
The exhibition will remain on view through the end of the spring semester (May 11, 2018).
The reception and performance is co-sponsored by the Libraries, the Music Dept., and Prof. George Lewis, Edwin H. Case Chair in American Music. Please contact the Music & Arts Library, 701 Dodge, musiclibrary [at] columbia.edu
