Dr. Emily Hansell Clark Appointed Postdoc at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

Beginning in June 2021, Emily will be a postdoc at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, appointed to the project Polyvocal Interpretations of Contested Colonial Heritage (PICCH), part of a five-nation research consortium funded by the European Joint Programming Initiative Cultural Heritage. The project aims to identify colonial collections of audiovisual media, to understand these collections in their imperial contexts, and to connect with new users of these archives such as local grassroots organizations, filmmakers, artists, and researchers from different communities to explore new modes of archival use and meaning making. Emily's work will focus on the collections of the Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid (Institute of Image and Sound) in the Netherlands, and will draw from her previous research on digital humanities, sound archives, and Dutch colonialism.

Congratulations Emily!
