Dr. Kevin C. Holt (Ethnomusicology ‘18) has accepted the position of Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology in the Department of Music at Stony Brook University, SUNY, where he will be teaching the department’s first core course centered on hip-hop music. His position begins in Fall 2021.
Kevin begins this position as he concludes his tenure as an Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at Wesleyan University, hosted by the African American Studies Program.
In addition to beginning a tenure track position at Stony Brook this fall, Kevin will be a member of the inaugural cohort of the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Future of Music Faculty Fellowship. CIM’s Future of Music Faculty Fellowship is a first-of-its-kind career development initiative for Black and Latinx music professionals considering and/or currently pursuing an academic career. Powered by the Sphinx Venture Fund, the competitive Fellowship spotlights and prepares future faculty leaders who will influence generations of musicians.
