Velia Ivanova Begins Fellowship at John W. Kluge Center

Historical Musicology graduate student Velia Ivanova has begun her residence at the John W. Kluge Center in Washington D.C., where she holds the Jon B. Lovelace Fellowship. The fellowship supports research of the Alan Lomax Collection at the Library of Congress’s American Folklife Center. During her time at the Kluge Center, Velia will be completing work on her dissertation, “The Musical Heritage of Incarceration: The Curation, Dissemination, and Management of the Lomax Collection Prison Songs,” which she is writing under the supervision of Professor Ellie Hisama.
