sinefamilytree tracks the births and deaths in my immediate family in the course of the 20th century. Voices tick off the months and years, while sine waves, by their pitch, loudness, and temporal and spatial positions, keep track of when people were born, and when they died.
sinefamilytree exists in several forms. It has been presented as a sound installation, a live performance, and a recording. In each case the audience participates by moving through the sound-space created by the voices and waves. By moving around, exploring, and listening in different places, changing relationships between the waves (people) are experienced.
sinefamilytree is about 10 minutes long.
