Lauren Bernard is a PhD student in Historical Musicology at Columbia University. She holds degrees in music from The University of North Texas (2015) and Brandeis University (2018). Her current research interests include the perception of race in timbre and sound, musical constructions of alterity and identity, and Afrofuturism.
