Mario Wellmann is a jazz guitarist and researcher from Chile. He holds a BA in Speech-Language Pathology (UBB, Chile), a BM in Jazz Studies with a concentration in jazz guitar (UNT, United States), and an MS in Neuroscience (UV, Chile). His research interests include music cognition, the neurological mechanisms underlying music and language processing, evidence-based learning methodologies, and the application of data science to music transcription and analysis. His scholarly work has been featured in journals such as Frontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, The Neuroscientist, Neurobiology of Disease, and Update: Applications of Research in Music Education, among others. As a musician, Mario's career has taken him to a diverse range of venues across South America, the United States, and Europe. He has had the privilege of performing alongside jazz luminaries such as Kurt Elling, Sinne Eeg, and Allison Wedding.
