Shirley (Ratidzai) Chikukwa graduated from California State University Fullerton, where she studied Music History and Theory. A McNair Pre-Doctoral Scholar, Shirley’s thesis involved researching issues surrounding the perception of women’s activity in late-eighteenth and early-nineteenth-century England, through the lens of Jane Austen’s works. For her doctoral studies, Shirley is interested in studying Zimbabwean choral music traditions, especially the development of Zimbabwean hymn traditions, contemporary Christian musical repertoires & Christian worship practices.
