On Friday, April 21, at 2 pm, Nicole Biamonte will deliver a talk, "Metric and Rhythmic Functions in Rock Music," as part of the Historical Musicology and Music Theory Colloquium series.

Biography

Nicole Biamonte is Associate Professor of Music Theory at McGill University. She has an undergraduate degree in piano from the State University of New York at Purchase, and a PhD in music theory from Yale University. She has published articles and book chapters on pitch structures, form, and rhythm and meter in popular music; musical historicism in the 19th century; and music theory pedagogy, as well as an edited collection, Pop-Culture Pedagogy in the Music Classroom. She currently serves as the editor of Music Theory Online.
