Cindy Sang is a doctoral student in historical musicology with a certificate in East Central Europe at Columbia University. Her research investigates voice, intermediality, and musical migration in twentieth and twenty-first century Poland. She holds her B.M. in piano performance and musicology, with Highest Honors, from the University of Michigan. At the Harriman Institute, she is currently the Program Assistant for the East Central European Center and the organizer of its Spring 2026 film screening and lecture series, “After 2020: New Directions in Polish Cinema."

Her research and public-facing scholarship have been supported through fellowships by the Harriman Institute at Columbia, the Copernicus Center for Polish Studies, the Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia, and the Bentley Historical Library at U-M. Also an avid pianist, Cindy received a fellowship for the 2024 Irving S. Gilmore International Piano Festival and the 2023 Young Musician’s Award from the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, among other honors.
