Please join us for a colloquium with Prof. Deirdre Loughridge (Northeastern University), on Friday, Feb. 26 at 3 pm EST for her talk entitled, "Why did Oram want to 'Humanize the Machine'?"

Deirdre Loughridge is an Associate Professor of Music at Northeastern University. Her first book, Haydn’s Sunrise, Beethoven’s Shadow: Audiovisual Culture and the Emergence of Musical Romanticism (University of Chicago Press, 2016), won the Kenshur Prize for outstanding monograph in eighteenth-century studies. A 2019-20 member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, she is currently at work on a book about music’s roles in understandings of human-machine relations in the eighteenth century as well as more recently, including in the work of Daphne Oram.
