IRCAM Forum Theme: SPATIALISATION, ORCHESTRATION AND PERCEPTION

Online/Stream Feb 4-6 and 11-12, 2021

About the event:
The IRCAM Forum Workshops in Montreal, an international meeting for Forum members and the international community of sound and music technology specialists, will take place online. The IRCAM Forum, in collaboration with its Canadian partners, will offer two sessions over two days in an innovative online format:

This new format will feature:
20- to 30-minute recorded presentations by IRCAM developers and composers, researchers from the Société des Arts Technologiques (SAT), McGill University, and Université de Montréal (UdeM), as well as independent artists and students. These presentations will be posted online for registered participants in advance of the real-time online meetings in February.
A joint event with Le Vivier will also be broadcasted: performances by Ensemble Paramirabo, the McGill Contemporary Ensemble and solo artists of music by Jean-Luc Hervé, James O’Callaghan, Zosha di Castri, Georgia Spiropoulos, and other composers.  The rate of 10$ is offered to all event participants.
On February 6th, a joint event with SAT and Symposium IX will be organized and dedicated to the immersive web. An annual international gathering of the big names in immersion, the iX Symposium (on Immersive eXperience*) was created by the SAT in 2014, as a platform for discussion, exchange and creation on immersive technologies (domes, virtual reality, augmented reality, etc.). Welcomed at the SAT, artists, researchers, developers, producers and enthusiasts from around the world are invited to share their knowledge on the subject.

The 2021 edition, in partnership with IRCAM and McGill University, will leave room for experimentation: under the theme of sound and immersion, the event will be broadcast using the new immersive web platform SATELLITE. An initiative of the SAT, SATELLITE is a transdisciplinary immersive virtual hub with the will to connect and radiate innovative experiences from the cultural community.
The iX Symposium "Sound & Immersion" of the SAT on Saturday, February 6th, is sold OUT. While access to the web platform is limited to a small audience (already sold out), the events will also be streamed on Vimeo for all Forum participants.

The real-time sessions on February 4-5-6 and 11-12 will offer a series of live roundtables to discuss the online presentations and the latest developments in sound and music technology. We will also offer 90-minute workshops and demos by IRCAM researchers and artists on new techniques and software for sound processing and creation.
