Dodge Hall, Library Seminar Room (7th floor)

Members of the Composing Women Program led by Prof. Liza Lim (Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney) are visiting New York with a concert at National Sawdust of premieres of flute solos performed by Claire Chase. The four graduate students, Bree van Reyk, Peggy Polias, Josephine Macken and Georgia Scott will present on their current chamber opera projects which explore contemporary issues ranging from a feminist reading of ‘The Odyssey’; the politics and representation of disability; threshold sensory states, and stories of species extinction, hope and renewal. The Australian group recently led a public Call to Action for systemic change in opera and will also discuss the ideas, strategies and outcomes from this.
