The Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard University has announced the names of fourteen composers selected to receive 2023 Fromm commissions.
The winners include Professor Miya Masaoka, Guggenheim Fellow and Director of the Columbia Sound Art MFA, Professor Taylor Brook of the University of Victoria, a 2018 alumnus of Columbia's DMA program in Composition, and Chen Yi, Pulitzer Prize finalist, Distinguished Professor of Composition at UMKC Conservatory, and alumna of Columbia's DMA program who studied with Chou Wen-Chung.
These commissions represent one of the principal ways that the Fromm Music Foundation seeks to strengthen composition and to bring contemporary concert music closer to the public. In addition to the commissioning fee, a subsidy is available for the ensemble performing the premiere of the commissioned work.
Congratulations to all!
