The Department warmly congratulates Dr. Elliott S. Cairns, who successfully defended his PhD dissertation in Historical Musicology titled "Listening to the World: The Berliner Phonogram-Archiv and the Emergence of Comparative Musicology" on October 2, 2019. Dr. Cairns's dissertation was advised by Professor Ellie Hisama, and his committee also included Professors Benjamin Steege, Lydia Goehr (Department of Philosophy), Walter Frisch, and Ana María Ochoa Gautier.
