The Department warmly congratulates Dr. William Mason, who successfully defended his PhD dissertation in music theory, Feeling Machines: Immersion, Expression, and Technological Embodiment in Electroacoustic Music of the French Spectral School, on January 31, 2019. Dr. Mason's dissertation was advised by Professor Ellie Hisama, and his committee also included Professors Jennifer Iverson (University of Chicago; not pictured), Mariusz Kozak, George E. Lewis, and Benjamin Steege.
