The Department warmly congratulates Lauren Shepherd, who successfully defended her PhD dissertation in Music (Music Theory), “Reconceiving Genre in 20th- and 21st-Century American Popular Music,” on August 15, 2024. Lauren's dissertation was advised by Professor Benjamin Steege, and her committee included Professors Knar Abrahamyan, Kevin Fellezs, Ellie Hisama, and Matthew Gelbart (Fordham).
