Professor Alessandra Ciucci has been featured in an episode of Maghrib in Past & Present | Podcasts as she discusses her newest research. Professor Ciucci critically examines the songs of Nass el Ghiwane as Moroccan protest music during the Years of Lead (1970s–1990s). The songs gave voice to the hopes and dreams of the Moroccan youth during a time of political violence and oppression. Professor Ciucci dives into the assemblage of the songs, teasing out intertextual meanings and references.
