May 31, 2017

Sean Hallowell (PhD 2013) is a 2018-2020 recipient of the Thinking Matters Fellowship at Stanford University. The Fellowship offers an opportunity for recent recipients of doctoral degrees to teach in an innovative liberal education program with a cohort of like-minded colleagues from a wide variety of different disciplines. Thinking Matters fosters the development of intellectual curiosity and critical inquiry skills in a student-centered environment designed to help students in their transition to college-level learning.

The duration of the Fellowship is two years with an optional third year. In the first year of the Fellowship, Hallowell will be teaching a course in Medieval literature and philosophy called What is Love, a course in musical aesthetics and sound studies called Worlds of Sound, and a course in cosmology and the philosophy of science called Thinking about the Universe.
