The Department warmly congratulates Gareth Cordery, who successfully defended his PhD dissertation in Music (Historical Musicology), titled "Gender, Mechanization, and the Étude: Discourses of Pedagogy in the Nineteenth Century" on May 12, 2026. Gareth's dissertation was advised by Professor Walter Frisch, and his committee included Professors Julia Doe, Benjamin Steege, Rebecca Cypess (Yeshiva University), and Dana Gooley (Brown).
