Dr. Courtney Bryan (DMA '14) has been profiled by the New York Times. The profile charts her career since finishing her degree at Columbia, and Professor George Lewis and Dr. Matthew D. Morrison (GSAS '14, Historical Musicology) provided interviews about her work and character. The article emphasizes the deft way in which she weaves classical, jazz, and gospel influences together into something wholly hers. Dr. Bryan is currently the Albert and Linda Mintz Professor of Music at Tulane University in New Orleans and composer-in-residence at Opera Philadelphia. She recently was named a 2023 MacArthur Fellow.
